The properties of excitons for a polar crystal in a weak magnetic field are discussed by using a perturbational method. When the interaction between phonons with different wave vectors in the recoil effect is neglected and a slow motion of the exciton is assumed, the electron–hole effective potential, the self‐trapping energy of an exciton, and the renormalized masses are derived.
