The change in the residual resistivity of alloys due to clustering is calculated by means of the t ‐matrix and without adjusting any free parameter. A criticism of the widely used scattering potentials is given. Basing on isotropic free electron transport the applicability of the theory is limited to small clusters. An initial increase in the residual resistivity due to the formation of Guinier‐Preston zones is found for AlZn and AlCu. The different local Fermi momenta in the matrix and in the clusters have an important influence on the resistivity.
