The change of isomer shift and hyperfine field in the first coordination shell of impurity atoms in iron‐based 3d‐metal alloys is discussed from the viewpoint of different charge screening models. It is shown that the change of isomer shift can exactly be described in terms of the asymptotic Friedel model. Interpretation of the hyperfine field change is more difficult and several different models are considered.
