Infrared reflectivity plasma measurements performed in the range 300 to 4000 cm −1 on TlBiTe 2 single crystals with a high density of coherent and semicoherent twins, at room temperature, reveal a frequency relaxation time of the form τ −1 (ω) τ 0 −1 + b ω n . With n = 2.35 satisfactory fits to the experimental plasma reflectivity data are obtained incorporating the above expression for τ(ω) in the Drude model. Discrepancies between the classical theory and the experiment are attributed to the scattering of free electrons by twin boundaries.
