Transmission spectra of the well‐known dipole forbidden excitonic lines A F and A L are studied in magnetic fields up to 18T in Faraday and Voigt configuration. Magnetic field induced shifts are observed and carefully interpreted within a theoretical model including mixingof A‐ and B‐valence bands. The unusual shift of line A F in the Voigt configuration is explained as a polariton effect. Furthermore, the absence of any doublet structure in both geometries is confirmed by theoretical investigations.
