By comparison of the independent particle model calculation of the positron annihilation spectra with the spin‐polarized angular correlation results in iron, the polarization of positrons before annihilation is determined to be 0.21 ± 0.05. The character and magnitude of the differences between the independent particle model and experiment is not influenced by the presence of the magnetic field. The explanation of these deviations could be a crucial test for recent treatments of the electron‐positron interaction in metals.
