The transfer of charge defects (excess protons or proton holes) along the hydrogen‐bonded chains of a series of systems is considered by use of the small polaron model. An expression is derived for the proton electric conductivity, taking into account the strong coupling of the deffect with longitudinal optical polarizational phonons and with the longitudinal acoustic phonons renormalized due to phonon—phonon interaction. The space‐charge‐limited proton current is considered. A comparison with experiments is made.
