EPR of Cu 2+ doped single crystals of anhydrous lead tartrate grown from silica gel are carried out at 300 K. Four Cu 2+ lattice sites, labeled A, B, C, and D are identified. These sites exhibit four sets of four hyperfine lines in all directions except some particular directions. The g ‐factor, the hyperfine splitting, the mixing parameters, and Fermi contact interaction constant are calculated for each site and they are compared with those found for other tartrate crystals in the literature. The spectra are found to have different intensities for different sites suggesting a preferential occupation of the sites by the Cu 2+ ions.
