The migration in a crystal of spatially inhomogeneous electronic excitations interacting with a phonon thermostat is studied. The evolution of excitons with band widths of the order of the optical phonon energy or greater is shown to be adequately described by a mixed, site‐energy representation. A generalized diffusion equation is obtained with memory essentially dependent on the exciton energy and with an inhomogeneity term, describing the energy redistribution between the exciton band sublevels.
