Loss angle measurements in the course of linear heating are carried out during a mutual conversion of F, Z 1 , and Z 2 centers in KCl:SrCl 2 one into the other and of KCl:SiCl 2 containing no colour centers. It is found that besides the known losses caused by reorientation of impurity vacancy complexes, point defect surface polarization, and conductivity, also the Z 2 → F conversion causes losses. A thorough analysis of the results leads to the conclusion that a transport of electrons takes place during the Z 2 → F conversion whereas the other conversions are realized by a „transport” of ions or neutral components.
