EPR spectra are observed from Pb and Ge ions in CdTe. The spectra are characterized by isotropic g ‐values of 2.2055 and 2.1450, respectively, and show strong anisotropic hyperfine interaction with the neighbouring tellurium ions. The resonances result from a hole localized primarily on the tellurium ligands and the results are discussed in relation to group IV ions in other II–VI compounds.
