The frequency‐dependent dielectric function and the de conductivity of multiple‐band solids including interband transitions and finite life times are calculated in a relaxation‐time approximation for the example of p‐type semiconductors. It is shown that interband contributions to the dielectric function do not result in interband contributions to the dc conductivity.
