On the basis of a band model for the extra B‐site electrons in Fe 3 O 4 a detailed estimate of the relevant small‐polaron (SP) parameters of Fe 3 O 4 is given taking into account the interatomic Coulomb interaction, the formation of SP due to the interaction with phonons, and the SP correlation. The isotope and pressure effects on the Verwey transition temperature are explained as SP effects.
