A formula for the ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) linewidth is presented for the case of isotropic bulk ferromagnetic metals in the parallel configuration, free surface magnetization motion being assumed. The numerical evaluation of the formula agrees with the relative accuracy −0.5 × 10 −2 to +1.5 × 10 −2 with exact results based on macroscopic FMR theory. The influence of surface magnetization pinning on the linewidth value is also discussed.
