The reduced second‐order self‐consistent phonon approximation is applied to the investigation of the dynamic and thermodynamic properties of noble metals using the Morse and Rydberg and Varshni potentials as models of nearest‐neighbour central force interaction. The temperature and pressure dependence of the dynamic and thermodynamic functions of Cu, Ag, and Au in the high and low temperature limits are given and compared with experimental and other theoretical data. The behaviour of the physical quantities in the vicinity of the instability point is investigated, too.
