It is shown that in the region of weakly localized states the conduction in both three and two‐dimensional systems may be due to non‐optimal hopping. The regime of non‐optimal hopping is characterized by a smaller hopping distance and energy compared to the conventional variable range hopping problem. The temperature dependence of the conductivity in this regime is discussed.
