The spectral reflectance of TiN single crystals in the energy range between 0.5 and 6.2 eV is investigated. The crystals are grown by chemical vapour deposition. They have a very exact stoichiometric composition and a low content of impurities. The reflectance spectra are obtained on grown surfaces and analyzed by means of the Kramers‐Kronig dispersion relations as well as by fitting a Lorentz‐Drude model. It results that, in addition to the well‐known intraband and interband absorption, also direct transitions between the conduction subbands contribute to the optical absorption.
