The second moments of Compton profiles are used to obtain electronic energies. It is proposed that the second moment of a line‐slit positron annihilation angular correlation curve, in comparison with the second moment of Compton profiles, can yield the correlation energy contribution to the cohesive energy of a material. The need for correcting the PAAC data for the positron enhancement factor and thermalization effects is examined. Numerical estimates of the errors involved are given for sodium and lithium and the possible applicability of the proposal is shown.
