The emission spectra and the polarization characteristics of the luminescence versus the temperature and the excitation wavelength in low‐doped KI:Tl + crystals allow to determine the nature of the center observed for excitation at λ > 290 nm. From the results it can be concluded that this center is a dimer center (Tl + ) 2 with D 2h symmetry.
