The observation of the universal response of electrial, mechanical, acoustic, and magnetic systems in which power law behaviour in the time and frequency domains is seen indicates the universal behaviour of correlation functions in these systems. It is shown that this behaviour can be obtained by making use of the correlation weakening principle which plays an essential role in quantumstatistical physics and which does not depend on the detailed structure of the many‐body system involved.
