Using the molecular field model to non Bravais lattices the following results are obtained: The sub‐lattices of Gd for the compound Gd 2 Au in the first ordered state below the paramagnetic state order ferromagnetically while in the Gd 2 Al compound they possess a helicoidal spin structure. In the ground state, Gd 2 Au is ferromagnetic and Gd 2 Al is antiferromagnetic when a quite large number of neighbours is included in the calculation and for a propagation vector k = 0 (ferromagnetic sublattices).
