A self‐consistent phonon theory of lattice dynamics based on the thermodynamic double‐time Green's function method is applied to the investigation of the thermal properties of the anharmonic face‐centred and body‐centred cubic crystals with the Morse potential as a model for nearest‐ neighbour central force interaction. The temperature and pressure dependence of the thermodynamic functions of cubic metals in the high and low temperature limits are given and compared with experimental data.
