An analysis of the interionic potentials is performed in 14 alkali chalcogenide crystals. New values of the van der Waals potentials are used. Different values of repulsive hardness parameters are introduced for different nearest‐neighbour and next nearest‐neighbour pair interactions. Cohesive energies, bulk modulus and its pressure derivative are calculated for the entire family of crystals under study.
