The advantage of the use of the Fourier transformation in analysing angular correlation curves of 2γ‐positron annihilation radiation is studied on the simple metals Al, Mg, and Li. It is observed that the values for the Fermi momentum estimated from the first and from the second zero of the one‐dimensional Fourier transform of angular correlation curve show systematic differences. This discrepancy may be resolved by taking into account the electron‐positron correlation using a momentum dependent enhancement factor. The estimated values for the Fermi momentum have an accuracy of 0.5 to 1% and agree excellently with the calculated free electron gas values.
