Abstract Experimental studies of the temperature shift and halfwidth of the exciton absorption band in pure and intercalated PbI 2 single crystals are performed. The exciton–phonon interaction feature are revealed, namely the highly effective scattering of excitons on the bending vibrations of the layer.
