Z 2 ‐oscillation of the equilibrium mean charge of 1 MeV He ions discovered by experiments is confirmed by calculating both the electron‐capture and ‐loss cross‐sections, employing two‐state atomic expansion method and Bron approximation, respectively. The calculations are in good agreement with the experimental results.
