A paramagnetic centre is produced in CaF 2 by oxygen diffusion and subsequent X‐irradiation. From EPR and ENDOR results it is possible to ascribe C 1 symmetry to this centre. The experimental data at measuring temperatures T ≦ 77 K can be fitted well to an oxygen‐fluorine‐vacancy complex. The anisotropy is averaged due to inner motions at room temperature and therefore in the spectra C 2v symmetry results.
