Polarised Raman spectra at 300 and 4.2 K as well as IR reflectivity and transmission spectra of single crystal GeSe 2 are obtained and analysed with the help of a factor group analysis. The IR reflectivity data are analysed with a Kramers‐Kronig analysis and by means of an oscillator fitting procedure. The results obtained are discussed in terms of the analogy between the vibrational spectra of GeS 2 (Part I) and GeSe 2 .
