Using the sum rule arguments a self‐consistent scheme is utilized to calculate the short‐range correlations in classical one‐component plasma. The results are used to obtain the static and dynamic structure factors in a unified framework, which are found to be in reasonably good agreement with the available molecular dynamics data in the domain of weak and intermediate couplings ( Γ < 20). The longwavelength limit, where thermodynamic functions are related to the static structure factor, is also analyzed.
