The microscopic and resonance properties of the elliptic spin‐wave polarization are analysed for a Heisenberg ferromagnet thin film with an internal dipolar anisotropy and uniaxial surface anisotropy. The general case of arbitrary oriented external magnetic field is considered. It is found that the bulk and surface sources of the ellipticity influence distinctly the resonance spectrum of spin waves.
