The influence of fluctuations on the Peierls transition of the quasi‐one‐dimensional Fröhlich model with a nearly half‐filled band is investigated within a renormalized random phase approximation. In the limit of weak interchain coupling, the stability limit of the normal phase with respect to the formation of a commensurate charge‐density wave is calculated.
