A calculation of the dechanneling half‐length x 1/2 for relativistic protons in a bent crystal is carried out with account of the valence electron density. The energetic dependence of particle channeling in curved channels is discussed and the influence of the beam divergence on the trapping of relativistic protons in channeling and their dechanneling in bent crystals are considered.
