Following the procedure due to Born and his co‐workers a method is developed for evaluating the lattice sums for cubic crystals without a centre of symmetry. For the zinc sulphide structure crystals the like particle sums can be worked out with Born et al. 's formulae but these are not applicable to the unlike particle sums. Further Jacobi's imaginary transformation adopted by Born et al. for the primitive lattices cannot be used in these sums for the evaluation of the integrals. Instead convergence is achieved by the use of Ewald's θ transformation. Finally the explicit formulae for the lattice sums – both, static and periodic – applicable directly to diamond and zinc sulphide structures are deduced.
