By X‐irradiation holes are created in the p‐orbitals of oxygen ligands of the WO 2– 4 complexes of CaWO 4 . These holes are stably trapped at temperatures below 150 K and are characterized by a hyperfine interaction with the W 183 nuclei of two neighboured WO 4 tetrahedra. When raising the temperature from 4.2 to 77 K this interaction changes from an inequivalent to an equivalent one. This thermally activated change is accompanied by a reorientation of the g ‐tensor and a maximum in the EPR linewidth.
