The temperature dependence of the isothermal elastic constants of alkali metals are calculated using second order perturbation theory and the local Heine‐Abarenkov model potential. The theoretical results are in quantitatively good agreement with available experimental data. The, the qualitative temperature dependence of elastic constants in the dynamical treatment using the expression for the temperature dependent two‐body interactions is obtained.
