Neutron inelastic scattering experiments are performed on RbBr at 80, 290, and 370 K and the experimental phonon widths are determined. Very little broadening with temperature is observed except for certain longitudinal optical modes which are broad at all temperatures and also show a marked temperature dependence in the width. A comparison is made with infrared data where measurements on the fundamental absorption peak yield information about the phonon width.
