A new type of V centre with orthorhombic symmetry is observed in SrO crystals. An investigation of the superhyperfine structure of the ESR spectra shows that this centre consists of an O − ion near a cation vacancy surrounded by two OH − groups. The values of the superhyperfine structure constants are used for the calculation of the distance between the O − ion and the OH − groups.
