Abstract The problem of the double exchange interaction mechanism in narrow‐band magnetic conducting crystals in terms of the Vonsovskii s‐f exchange model is considered taking into account the Coulomb interaction between conduction electrons, using Hubbard approximation. The values of the Néel paramagnetic temperature and of effective paramagnetic moment, as function of concentration of current carriers, are determined. A comparison of the theoretical expressions with the experimentally found Gd concentration dependence of the Curie paramagnetic temperature of solid solutions Eu 1– x Gd x Se helps to obtain a correlation between the conduction band width, the magnitude of the intraatomic exchange integral, and the value of the Coulomb interaction of electrons on a site. The variation of the effective magnetic moment value in the Eu 1– x La x S series, as a function of La concentration is discussed.
