The anomalous behaviour of the refracted waves near grazing incidence is considered for an anisotropic case. It is shown that the damping and phase shifts of the eigen refracted waves essentially alter its value in comparison with the case of normal incidence. This result is not obtained in framework of index‐of‐refraction formalism, introduced in Mössbauer optics by Blum and Kistner. For the extremely asymmetric diffraction an additional difficulty arises due to the refraction effect. In this case the refraction dependence of dynamical coefficients has to be taken into account. Using the covariant method the behaviour of inhomogeneous refracted waves is considered for the case of a single Zeeman line of Mössbauer spectrum.
