The electronic structure of a 13‐atom Tc cluster is obtained from X α ‐SW calculation. Comparing the data derived for the internal conversion (IC) of 99m Tc in the metallic state with recent experimental findings an assessment is made of the scattered‐wave cluster technique for the study of short‐range phenomena in metals.
