Using an extended RPA procedure and symmetry properties of the system, the macroscopic dielectric function, plasmon frequencies, and the dielectric matrix are calculated for an one‐dimensional CDW‐distorted electron system in the condensed phase. Thereby the Peierls charge‐density wave potential is treated for a general case. Real and imaginary parts of the macroscopic dielectric function are discussed in the limit of vanishing wave numbers for different values of the dynamical parameters.
