The cohesive and thermophysical properties of alkaline earth oxides are thoroughly investigated by extending Hafemeister and Flygare (HP) and Hafemeister and Zarht (HZ) potentials to include the three‐body interaction effects. The extended HZ potential thus obtained is found to yield a better description of the above properties than those revealed by the extended HF potential presented and many other potentials used by earlier workers.
