With a Variational method the effect is studied of impurity‐impurity interaction on the formation of local moments within the framework of the Anderson model. Compared to the similar calculation on. a single impurity, the local moment is enhanced, especially when the two impurities are nearest neighbours of each other with a ferromagnetic direct coupling.
