The electron–phonon interaction in the vicinity of the van Hove critical point M 1 is considered without making use of the perturbation theory. The characteristics of the charge carriers located near such a point (dispersion law, density of states) are shown to vary considerably even if the coupling constant is small. The contribution of the electrons in the vicinity of the point M 1 to the transport properties is discussed.
