The discrete energy values of excitons in uniaxial crystals are calculated in adiabatic approximation. A model adiabatic potential is discussed for the case of the intermediate anisotropy. It is shown that for the ground state the adiabatic approximation yields the results not worser than the variational ones in the actual range of the anisotropy constant.
