The results are given of crystal field investigations on the cubic intermetallic compound PrMg 3 by inelastic neutron scattering and specific heat measurement. From the neutron spectra measured at T = 8 and 80 K the following crystal field parameters are obtained: B   4 0= −34.7 × 10 −4 meV and B   6 0= −89 × 10 −6 meV. The crystal field ground state of Pr 3+ is the non‐magnetic doublet Γ 3 .
