The specific heat and superconducting critical temperature of VN 0.74 and VN 0.89 are measured in the temperature range 1.8 < T < 20 K. The density of states at the Fermi level is determined on the basis of these results. The dependence of the density of states on the parameter of the electron—phonon interaction is discussed as well. It may be expected that increasing the N content of the mentioned compounds would lead to the intensification of the electron—phonon interaction and the increase of the density of states at the Fermi level and the critical temperature, respectively.
