The stimulated Brillouin scattering of a large amplitude electromagnetic wave due to the excitation of an acoustic wave is investigated analytically in a piezoelectric semiconductor plasma in the presence of a homogeneous static magnetic field parallel to the direction of propagation. A dispersion relation is obtained using the coupled mode theory and the threshold electric field of the pump necessary for the onset of instability as well as the initial growth rate of the unstable mode are obtained analytically for the two cases: 1. without magnetic field, 2. with magnetic field. The threshold electric field and the growth rate for these two cases are compared and it is found that the magnetic field reduces the threshold electric field considerably but increases the growth rate.
