Abstract Starting from the general theory, the lattice thermal conductivity of Al is evaluated at low temperatures. The calculation is carried out without free parameters using the complete lattice dynamics and the Ashcroft pseudopotential for Al. The results of the calculation are discussed in comparison with available experimental data.
