Calculations of directional Compton profiles of FeAl are reported. The scattering matrix elements are treated within the impulse approximation using electron wave functions, which are obtained from a quasi‐self‐consistent APW band structure calculation. For an analysis of the Compton profiles at q = 0 an approximation is developed, which only needs the electron momentum distributions of the three cubic main directions. The convoluted differences of the Compton profiles in the three special directions show remarkable anisotropies which should be stimulating for the performance of Compton experiments on single‐crystal specimens of FeAl.
